The internet is a great source of up to date information for Setter outs, and it is available as you need it. Here are a few of the sites I visit regularly.

1. The British Standards Institute.

The British Standards Institute govern the Technical drawing standards in the UK. Useful Links include:

The BSI Shop – Search for the standards that apply to your product or industry.

BSOL – The British standards Online – An online library of British standards.

The BSI Global Construction industry page – Find out more about which standards apply to the construction industry.

If your company does not have an account with BSI, or you want to do some personal research, you may be able to access the British standards ‘On line’ service (BSOL) through your local library:

5.The Forestry Stewardship council – FSC

FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. It was founded in 1993 in response to public concern about deforestation and demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme. There are national working groups more than 50 countries including the UK.
